Eretria
- Parga
At
a for Greece unusually cool June day under cloud-covered sky we take the lightest
distance to Nafpaktos - the same as we come). We start in the 100%igen conviction
to be able to camp on camping Platanitis because Nikos of the camping Milos called
for us at Platanitis and told us that it is opened
When we have Nafpaktos behind us - despite change of the federal highway at first
attempt to the camping Platanitis to find, we state that this is all around closed.
We meet a Netherlands pair with live mobile, which call at the camping site. Also
someone actually announces itself... the automatic answering set, which probably
tells everyone, which sounds itself it, that the place is in enterprise. But:
Camping
Platanitis in Nafpaktos is closed!!!
( June 2006)
There is in 3 km
another camping site, but we decide, because the day is still young (5 pm.), after
the 280 km from Eretria to Nafpaktos to drive the 230 km to Parga .
Before Amfilochia it begins to rain. We reduce the speed and drive forward. More
than 100 km is bad weather. After sunset it is going to get cold. At 9 pm. we
are in Parga - freecing because of couldness, we had it never before in Greece.
Exkurs: Take over in Greece
The Greeks were
somewhat nervous... ... and them the habit to compute the width of a road differently
than we have Pfingst homebound wave of traffic. Speak: 2 driving strips + a standing
strip on each side (that is used here to evade if one wants to overhaul) = sufficient
place for all possible (and for our terms impossible) traffic conditions.
More exactly: If a vehicle which can be overtaken changes over to the stand stripe,
the overhauling vehicle with the easy towering above of the double traffic line
can overtake, because it is accepted that the accomodating vehicle yields likewise
easily on the stand stripe. So also LKWs can be overtaken.
The biker make it again differently.... a biker fit in any case at that for the
native town going column. Thus gas and off at the sheet metal queue along.
That means: Not only take care for the overtaker (go to the stand stripe), also
for the obligingness, which break out, (- drive to the stand stripe - the accomodating
one will like it!).
And think always: It is clear if it is a greek, and not a tourist in a rented
or his own car. Someone are new in Greece, Manche sind neu in Griechenland, do
not check up the system
or don`t like it to check.
