Black flags on ships

On quite a lot of ships in the harbour of Parga we see masts, to the black often badly tattered garbage bags are mounted like a flag. It looks like a Jolly Roger on which the death's-head with the crossed bones was forgotten.

No, these are no pirates, but fishing boats. The poles with the black "flags" are put out on it in the sea to mark the laid out nets. The plastic glitters in the light and, therefore, is to be seen in every weather good.

Garlic and snail houses

Garlic seems in Greece not only in a lot of food, he is also twisted to braids or wreaths and is hung on the house or on the boat. This serves here not to hold vampires, but to attract good shops.

You also sees also snail house-chains quite often. They should draw the luck!


An empty pier

Toilets

Allergy sufferer

Should take their products themselves. For odoriferous substance allergy sufferers there is olive oil soap in masses, but no hairshapoo, shower gel or solar protection without perfume. Also the bed stuff in the lodgings is strong parfumed, because there are no detergents free of odoriferous substances.

We found food supplement means like magnesium or calcium (or the multi-product Centrum) conditioned in drugstores. These preparations are very expensive in Greece. Mineral substances (e.g., after Dr. Schuessler) are absolutely unknown here.


Spare parts

Parga is a relatively big town, is not available, nevertheless, here everything. While you can absolutely buy a Didgeridoo or a drum, you must procure for himself things like piece of furniture, guitar strings, motorcycle accessories (helmet, battery etc.) in Preveza or Ioannina .

The local traders help with pleasure, but also they must order the product in the big towns - and who knows, how long a delivery lasts in Greece?


Electricity supply

Be care in case of thunderstorms! There is easily a stream failure or strong stream variations or high voltage! Devices like Digi-Camera, mobile phones etc. only with fair weather charge!
