PARGA - WIEN (16. - 18. 6. 2004)

Our holidays are nearly over. At the 16th of June we disassemble our tent, go on discharge tour through Parga and the cooler late afternoon hours are useful to go to Igoumenitsa. There we nest for a night in the Oskar hotel which suits to the new port quite near and has a private parking lot on which we can switch off our motorcycles.

Also in Igoumenitsa one works on a new canalization. At the port promenade there are many restaurants, there is still the Internetcafe we found in previous year. We surf a little while there is being infernal noise around us. Europe cup is announced and becomes highly emotional watched from the rather younger public above the XXL television set.

Next morning we drive up on the giant parking lotof the new port. We must makethe Tickets be confirmed in the office of the Anek Lines, we hear about other travellers. Therefore again sat up and drive back the street to the office. We register our tickets and drive retour to the parking lot.

Just before the Italian boundary building we come in into the small parking lotto the right and have breakfast in the small bar. The coffee and the croissants filled with vanilla creme are considerably better and more economical there than on the ferry boat.

The ride through Slovenia goes swiftly as always - intermittent always shortly through the toll places. We enjoy the large freedom and feast in memories of the tolerance and reason of the Greek bureaucracy and executive during the last kilometers in the other country.

Crossing the frontier to Austria we are torn abruptly from our dreams. The official criticizes the little flag on the antenna of Rudis motorcycle. "That is the flag of the Federal President. You offend against the flag law if you mount it on your vehicle. They must remove it"!
Rudi wants to remove it at once but the customs officer says: "Not here - on the next parking lot."

Austria has us fully and very again. In Gralla we do break, hide, what does not belong to us but the head of state, in the Topcase and consider, whether we must return the little flag to the Mr Klestil by mail.

According toGralla it begins to thunder. We also believe to have heared a few hailstones on our helmets. The tempest lasts to Zoebern. We do tracing in a restaurant called Old-Timer (Zoebern), park now at the bus parking lot>, because we do not have any inclination to search a normal place dripping wet as we are. In the restaurant an inquiry is in the walk. There services, family, senior and child friendlinessof the break place, are asked for... We notice: no only question concerns motorcyclists. And the shopis not very motorcyclist-friendly - especially in the case ofrain weather. Just one can warm the moist hands at the coffee cup.

Rudi put on his leatherjacket which left a puddle at the floor. Tjaky wound the gloves above the ashtray and is also departure-ready. We take along still a few napkins, in order to wipe the saddles dryly... a reconsidered parking area would be in fact a hit!

The last kilometers through Lower Austria welcomes us a lukewarm fall gentle breeze and our fissure dries up again a little.
It is cold here...
And we wonderagain and again whether the Federal President wants to mount really the damaged little flag onto his state limousine? After all... foreign country experience it would have already ...
