WIEN - PARGA (28. - 29. 5. 2003)

Rast in Gralla It is a beautiful biker-weather when we start at 7 o`clock in Vienna, leave Austria at the border at Spielfeld and ride the excellent highways Slovenias. Only a small piece at Trojane is a normal street. But ever there work is in progress. We are obliged to be at the harbour of Triest at 6 p.m. since the ferry boat will start at 7 p.m. But we arrive the italien-slovenian border at 2 p.m. stop for a coffee before we entered the horrible traffic jam of Trieste.

Surprisingly the streets of the vivid harbour-town are nearly empty. Time of siesta in the city. Soon we arrive the Anek Line.

We expect to wait hours by hours in the afternoon heat but what a surprise: Our ferry boat Sophokles V is still awaiting us. We have not to go to the first floor and our good old bikes are placed near the stern.

Rudis tiefen Schlaf kann ihm keiner rauben!Referring the service it is an absolute negative impression: No orange juice for welcome, no toilet paper, lock and water closet spoiled, and demolished seats. But after all our sleep is deep and refreshing.

We arrive Iguomenitsa the next day at 7 p.m. In our thoughts we still arrive Parga just one hour later.

Gleich geht's raus - oder doch nicht? But when we try to leave the stern a big truck in front of us take us the sight. No movement at all. Some cars go inside, but no one left. We thought that we have to stay at the ferry till Patra but then we are told that the basin was not deep enouph for Sophokles. We change for another basin. Now we are very happy to get in touch with mother earth.

We loose one hour and during sunset we start to Parga.

A short shower is another handicap. But the fresh greece air helpes our loungs to remove the pollution.

At 10 p.m. finally we've got it: Parga. Our tent fixed, sleeping-bag ready and we ready to hear the news on our first walk through Parga.
